Director Gabriel B. Arrahnio has joined Snapper Films. Born in Cameroon, Arrahnio moved to Germany as a teenager.

It was around then that he realised that he wanted to make films. When he was a bit older, he moved to Berlin and, that was when things really started falling into place. After a few internships at a few small production companies, Jung von Matt hired Arrahnio as the agency’s first-ever in-house director where he stayed for three years.

Arrahnio has just won Best New Signing at the 2021 Shiny Awards and is on a mission to tell stories that have a deep emotional impact on viewers.

Life can be tough, and that is often reflected in his work, but he’s able to bring real positivity to his films. His incredibly brilliant film Shame, which won him a silver at the YDA in 2017, is testament to that.

Hel Hadfield, MD and Executive Producer at Snapper said ‘From the moment I saw Gabriel’s film Shame, I was captivated by his power as a storyteller. His work has the power to haunt you. He has a way of getting to the heart of a difficult truth and make it sing in an utterly compelling way. As well as being hugely courageous in his choices, he is also a magnetic, delightful human being - how could we resist? We are thrilled to welcome him into the Snapper family.’
