SKIMS debuts SKIMS Lab campaign
TV commercial directed by Frank Lebon and produced by Wieden+Kennedy.
SKIMS debuted its groundbreaking SKIMS Lab national TV commercial during the Oscars red carpet.
Directed by Frank Lebon and produced by Wieden+Kennedy, the cultural force behind the world's leading consumer brands and iconic work from Nike, McDonald’s and Ford, the revolutionary film showcases an extraordinary, out-of-this-world SKIMS universe.
Kim Kardashian, SKIMS Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, conceptualised the creative development together with Wieden+Kennedy and Lebon to deliver the unexpected commercial that simultaneously harkens back to the golden age of advertising.
“With this being our first-ever made for TV campaign, we really wanted to bring viewers into the SKIMS universe and create a film about our brand story and obsession with product development in a witty, yet extravagant way,” says Kim Kardashian. “It was great working with Frank on this, his unique creativity and talent for storytelling really shined through. I am really proud of what we created together.”

The film is set inside a SKIMS Lab located on a ship in outer-space and features Kim Kardashian playing every part with her "Klones" appearing in roles like “Chief Engineer,” a scientist, test subjects, among many others, a nod to the tongue-in-cheek speculation from fans that there's no way the real Kim Kardashian can possibly do it all.
Each version of Kim works tirelessly to test every product through a variety of seemingly extreme methods, ensuring SKIMS are engineered to absolute perfection, because the product is truly out of this world and is ready for every body. As “Chief Engineer,” Kardashian quality-tests every product's fabrics, wearability, comfortability, durability and overall smoothness to ensure the best fit for everyone and that it never digs, rolls or stretches out.
In a display of this inherent perfection, Kardashian was adamant that no Artificial Intelligence be used and the army of Kardashian "Klones" are individually shot scenes of Kardashian filmed over three full shoot days.
“As our first major ad made for national TV, this campaign cements SKIMS as a leader in the industry, but also as a creative force to be reckoned with,” says Jens Grede, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at SKIMS. “Collaborating with Wieden+Kennedy was a no-brainer given their reputation and long history of creating visually impactful campaigns that connect with culture and stand the test of time.”
“We are so proud of this work and to have been able to partner with SKIMS on this film,” says Azsa West, co-cco of Wieden+Kennedy Portland. “This was a dream assignment to bring SKIMS’ brand story to life in a way that only SKIMS could do. Creating a secret lab, Kim playing each character, working with Frank Lebon, incorporating an iconic track like Dream Weaver every component had a distinct purpose in helping bring the SKIMS world to life in an out-of-this-world kind of way.” The SKIMS Lab commercial debuted during the Oscars red carpet and will air until the end of April.
