The awards and events network for newly signed and freelance directors continues to shine a light on emerging talent.

As always with Shiny, around 70 per cent of the diverse shortlist for this autumn's showcase was work by directors from under-represented backgrounds. Judges were all impressed by the high standard and variety of films submitted.

The winners were chosen and announced at the lively event by: James Southward, EP at 180 AmsterdamAnna Hashmi, co-founder and EP of The Corner ShopKaren Andre, Sales and Marketing Director at LS ProductionsMartin Goodwin, Head of VFX/Partner Nomad and shots Features Editor, Carol Cooper.

That was a lovely evening, it was great to get more recognition for up-and-coming directors. Some of them reported that they were ‘literally crying’ about getting screened at 180 Amsterdam.

The winning entries are:

Delivery for Mr Frogula, by Vanessa Stachel, who wins a meeting with a creative team at 180 Amsterdam. See here for shots interview with Stachel who also won a YDA Gold Screen Award.

There was also an acknowledgement of Jo Roy’s fabulous film Corpus and The Wandering, which the director had to withdraw from the Awards at the last minute.
