Now then, I is knowin’ that most Roald Dahl storybooks isn’t exactly Christmas-time tales, no they isn’t. But there’s something wonderific and wishy in all them magical goings-on what makes ‘em feel all twinkly and Christmassy inside!
That’s why using one of the bestest of Dahl’s story-scrumplings - me, The BFG himself - for Sainsbury’s 2024 show-up is a real masterstroke, it is.
The whole thing begins on a whizzpopping close-up of a ghastly snozzcumber! All the Dahl-lovers will be swishwiffling with glee when they hear the giant’s own scrumdiddlyumptious words, and what a gloriumptious bigscreen splendifer revelation I has, too!
With fantastical, dream-drizzling animation and puppetry, this lovely lot at Electric Theatre Collective has gone and made the BFG live all big and beautiful. Rogue’s Sam Brown has gone and tangled our giant with his littlish friend Sophie, a real-life Sainsbury’s friend, so they is off on their adventures all together!
And oh, it is New Commercial Arts’s first-time shindig with Ogilvy UK, who’s just made the brand all theirs. Now, I mights be a little quiff-squiddled meself, but I thinks already this warm hug of a film is proving to be the seasonal whoopsy-whoosier of them all!
