Production company new—land welcomes Nono Ayuso and Rodrigo Inada, the newest additions to its ‘New Talent’ roster, as the directorial duo Rodrigo + Nono.
Hailing from completely different backgrounds and generations, Rodrigo + Nono have gathered all their individual experiences and forged them into the single interest of creating unique films. Their film Terra Cene, a powerful reimagining of 1977’s Voyager Golden Records commissioned by Berlin-based NGO the Karman Project, won Gold at 2022’s Young Director Awards, as well as being recognised at competitions including the 1.4 Awards, Berlin Commercial Festival and Rhode Island International Film Festival.
The pair have gone on to work for brands including WhatsApp, Converse, Yamaha and Adidas, alongside advertising agencies like BBH, TBWA, Translation, DAVID and Mullen Lowe, as well as crafting music videos for the likes of Joy Crookes, Kehlani, Arlo Parks and Isamaya Ffrench. Their work has been recognised by publications like The Washington Post, The New York Times, Vogue Italy, Nowness, Dazed and Director’s Library.
“We have long been admirers of new—land’s work and the way they always manage to strike the right balance between outstanding narrative and perfect craft. The narrative core of their films, always with a message behind, and their unique approach to telling stories, is something we feel deeply connected to.” SAID Nono Ayuso & Rodrigo Inada.
“We are delighted to be signing Rodrigo + Nono and can’t wait to begin working alongside them. Their unique visual sensibility, consistently working in favour of the story and message of each film, and their constant willingness to experiment and embrace different genres and styles, makes them two of the most exciting filmmakers working today.” States Sara Samsøe, EP & Head of Production, new—land Copenhagen.
