After graduating from the RCA, Alan Smith and Adam Foulkes formed a creative partnership Smith & Foulkes based on a mutual appreciation of their similarities and a grudging acceptance of their differences.

Moving seamlessly between the worlds of commercial and independent filmmaking, their multidisciplinary craftsmanship has earned them some of the industry’s most coveted accolades.

Since Honda Grrr took home Black Pencils, the Cannes Grand Prix, and was voted AdWeek’s Ad of the Decade, they have gone on to receive an Annie, a BAFTA, an Oscar nomination, and a multitude of Arrows.

They live by the mantra that story comes first, then the right technique naturally follows… creating engaging characters that take us to visually extraordinary worlds. With lots of silly gags along the way. All of which is why they fit perfectly into the Riff Raff family.

Matthew Fone said: “Like most people I have loved Adam and Alan’s work for a long time, from their Oscar nominated short film This Way Up to their BAFTA winning film for BBC’s Winter Olympics . The list doesn’t start and end there though.

So when they wanted to chat I was intrigued.

For me they have the same DNA as Riff Raff, one built around ideas and narrative, then crafting the style that best suits the story.

Still not sure which one is which, but everyone here is excited to welcome them into the Riff Raff Family.”
