Olen Joins Motion Graphics and VFX Shop Protokulture as VP/MD
Protokulture Founder/Creative Director John Michaels has announced the hiring of Chicago post-production veteran Jim Olen in the role of VP/Managing Director.
Over the course of his 20-year career, Olen has worked in most aspects of post-production. He was President and Executive Producer of the music house Rhythm Cafe for 14 years and he also served as a business consultant to a wide variety of creative shops.
Olen wants to direct his focus and energy toward just one shop. "This is an incredible opportunity for me," he says. "Protokulture's designers are the best in the city, and the plan is to build on that strength and continue to grow by bringing on innovative artists and producers that share our passion for the industry."
While Michaels and Olen say that Protokulture has the capabilities and expertise to facilitate a wide variety of production and post production services, both agree that their goal is to concentrate on the core services of graphic design and animation.
"Complacency is for chumps", offers Michaels, "So, it was important for me to find someone with an entrepreneurial background who knows how to grow a business, and constantly reinvent that business to meet clients' needs. Jim has a great reputation in the creative community, which made him an ideal choice to help lead Protokulture through our expansion and growth."
