Progressive’s latest campaign, created in partnership with Arnold is a continuation of the brand platform Parentamorphosis, the campaign leans into the idea that the day you become a homeowner is the day that you start turning into your parents.

Building on a series of relatable, culturally resonant insights, Progressive introduced a solution to this “condition”: Dr. Rick, the doctor no one knew they needed. As the expert in helping people avoid becoming their parents, Dr. Rick became the hero of the campaign, each chapter showing how he guides new homeowners through the ups, downs, and undeniable humour of homeownership.

This continuation introduces two new :30 spots both with :15 cutdowns that emphasise the playful idea that becoming a homeowner is the first step toward becoming your parents.

In Magnet, two curious homeowners turn a routine manhole repair into a neighbourhood investigation. The two neighbours watch as they offer their own theories about the issue and speculate whether it might be related to the local middle school, until Dr. Rick gently guides them away, shutting down their promise.

In Valet, Dr. Rick steps in as a young homeowner turns a simple valet stand into a full-blown interrogation. The homeowner can’t help slipping into dad mode by asking unnecessary logistical questions like whether there is an overflow lot, repeating them to Dr. Rick after being told to stand quietly, and finally attempting a forced joke about the wrong car while looking at Dr. Rick for approval.

The commercials are currently airing nationally on broadcast TV. The campaign builds on years of momentum and positive reception from audiences. From YouTube comments to Reddit threads, people consistently proclaim their love of the Dr. Rick campaign.

“It’s the small things around us, like when a lid’s up on a manhole and there’s a crew working the job site, you have to engage,” said Mike Sullivan, SVP Group Creative Director at Arnold. “It’s impressive stuff. Really. And if that makes me sound like I’m turning into my parents, then call me Stephen Sullivan."
