Advertising veteran and decorated producer Scott Kaplan has launched production company Friends & Family.

The company ethos lies in the name: Kaplan will channel his creative advertising expertise to craft smart, honest and hilarious content set apart by the quality of his longstanding partnerships with clients, agencies, and crew. The company’s bevy of talented directors demand imagination and intentional collaboration, which fuels Friends & Family’s deep-seated drive to produce impactful advertising.

Kaplan has brought on Jed Herold as an Executive Producer to lead the client-facing side of the company, while Kaplan, also as Executive Producer, will funnel his experience to handle strategy, director and agency relations demands. His culture-setting work as a line producer contains milestone ads like Old Spice’s The Man Your Man Can Smell Like, which earned an Emmy, Cannes Grand Prix and D&AD Black Pencil; a number of Apple’s iconic iPod commercials featuring Paul McCartney, Eminem Bob Dylan and the Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others. He has produced for many directors such as Mark Romanek, Tom Kuntz, Gus Van Sant, Malcolm Venvile and Noam Murro.

Friends & Family’s directors, which includes Heidi Berg, “Buddy”, Caleb Slain, Tash Tung, Jack Turits and Kelsey Larkin, with more to come, exude an intensely imaginative spirit. Shared accolades include two Emmy nominations and appearances at the Cannes Film Festival and The San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design.
