Porsche Awards announces 20th edition
Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg and Porsche celebrate an anniversary while also saying farewell...
Next year sees the Porsche Awards for young talents in the advertising industry celebrating its 20th anniversary. Entries can now be submitted in three categories. Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg as the organiser and Porsche AG as the long-standing main sponsor are looking forward to seeing the exciting advertising films submitted by participants from all over the world.
The Porsche Awards’ anniversary edition simultaneously marks the culmination of the 20-year partnership between FABW and Porsche AG. Over that period, the award has not only fostered aspiring talents, but also played a key part in shaping the creative landscape of the advertising film industry. The decision not to extend the contract beyond 2024 is the result of a comprehensive review and careful evaluation of the marketing strategy within Porsche. However, the representatives of both organisations emphasise that this in no way stands in contradiction to the long-standing, trusting and very successful partnership. An exciting opportunity now opens up for the film school to explore new approaches with the competition, and to further develop it with new sponsors and partners, and thereby continue to support aspiring talents in the advertising film industry.
So, for one last time, the competition offers students and young professionals the chance to submit their advertising films online via the Porsche Awards website. The deadline is 31 December 2023. An international jury of experts will carefully assess all submissions and nominate twelve advertising films for the shortlist. The anniversary award ceremony will be held at Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg on 11 April 2024.
Films can be submitted in three award categories:
Category 1: Short Advertising Content Alternative advertising (film) formats and classic advertising spots up to 60 seconds. These alternative formats include viral spots, films and campaigns for social networks or for smartphones, interactive formats and apps. Trailers, virtual/augmented reality projects, experimental projects, documentary advertising film spots, mockumentaries, branded events, showcases, games, etc., can also be submitted in this category.
Category 2: Long Advertising Content This is the category for branded shorts and short films with an advertising background that bring to life the brand essence, product statements or company philosophies. Possible formats, up to a maximum of 20 minutes, include: short films with advertising/communication message, branded entertainment projects (branded short, branded event, branded game, etc.), documentary advertising film formats, mockumentaries, films and campaigns for social networks or for smartphones, interactive formats and apps. Trailers, virtual/augmented reality projects, experimental projects, showcases, games, etc., can also be submitted in this category.
Category 3: Driven by Dreams The “Driven by Dreams” category is for films and formats that get us dreaming of a better world. These stand for progress, environmental awareness and sustainability, convey a strong message or a persuasive position, and have the nature of an appeal. Films/projects of up to 20 minutes and other (online) formats are eligible in this category. These include: TV, cinema and online spots, viral spots, social spots, films and campaigns for social networks or for smartphones, interactive formats and apps. Trailers, virtual/augmented reality projects, experimental projects, showcases, games, etc., can also be submitted in this category. As can short films with an advertising/communication message, branded entertainment projects (branded short, branded event, branded game, etc.), documentary formats and mockumentaries.
A prize will be awarded to the winning film in each category, with each of the three successful teams receiving prize money of €4,911 – a nod to the legendary Porsche 911.
