Paloma Faith shows us how you leave a man
Paloma Faith returns, releasing How You Leave a Man, her first single in three years with music video directed by Theo Adams.
The single precedes the 16th February release of Faith’s sixth studio album The Glorification of Sadness via RCA Records.
Gearing up for another monumental chapter, British superstar Paloma Faith returns with the release of her brand new single How You Leave A Man, with a video directed by PRETTYBIRD director Theo Adams.
Earlier this week Faith shared the news of her new album release date and inspiration with a personal note to her fans letting them know she was “...Looking forward to sharing this new era.” This is a new Paloma Faith, recharged, empowered and back in control, and the new era for Faith is reflected in Theo Adams’s direction of the music video. They depict Faith as an enigmatic screen siren, cruising through a nocturnal city-scape, in a beautifully lit, cinematic portrayal of empowerment.

The dramatic music video was filmed in Warsaw and Theo Adams explains: “Directing Paloma's first video in three years has been an absolute joy. I've known Paloma since I was 16, when we were both performing in back rooms of east London clubs in ludicrous regalia and buckets of fake blood. I want to thank her for putting her trust in me now all these years later and delivering the raw, cathartic, and explosively powerful performance this video needed, just as she did all those years ago. I put Paloma and the entire crew through some Herculean conditions, filming in the rain, thunder, lightning, and freezing temperatures while speeding down Warsaw's city streets in the middle of the night for hours on end, but we all had the best time!”
During their prolific career as an artist, director and founder of the Theo Adams Company, Adams has gained recognition within the industry as a powerhouse creative director, collaborating with musicians such as FKA twigs and Years & Years, through captivating TV performances, visuals and live tours, but the Paloma Faith collaboration is their first music video directing solo after several co-directing credits with the legendary Sophie Muller including Kylie Minogue and Jessie Ware's 'Kiss of Life' which was nominated for best Pop Video at last years UKMVAs.
The Theo Adams Company produce unique large-scale theatrical productions, films, events and photographic work. Their debut production premiered at Tate Britain in 2008, propelling them to perform at prestigious theatres and art institutions worldwide. Adams' renowned ability to blend fashion, art, music, and performance has resulted in exciting collaborations with world-class designers, artists, and brands, creating immersive events and one-of-a-kind experiences for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Valentino, MAC Cosmetics, and more.
How You Leave A Man is about finding the confidence to walk away from a relationship and being empowered with your own happiness, its limitless expression of pop allows it to sit comfortably next to Faith's many chart successors and then some. But The Glorification of Sadness is more than an album about relationships. The celebration of finding your way back after leaving a long term relationship, being empowered even in your failures and taking responsibility for your own happiness. It is her most personal album to date, drawing on her own experiences with Faith acting as the anchor to direct a deeply personal narrative and album.
This is the first new music from Faith since the release of her fifth studio album Infinite Things in November 2020 and is the first time in her career where she has executively produced a record. She has released five albums, a flourishing acting career including a role as Bet Sykes in the Batman prequel series Pennyworth and starring as Florence De Regnier in Lionsgate's Dangerous Liaisons; ambassadorships for Greenpeace and Oxfam and more recently launched her own interior brand called Paloma Home.
