The guest of honor at the ANDY Awards never cracked a smile.

The AD Club of New York handed out its 2011 International ANDY Awards last night at the Times Center in New York, and SourceEcreative was on hand. (For more photos from the event, scroll down.)

In addition to conducting video interviews with a number of ANDY jurors on key trends in the ad business (keep an eye on the ACNY web site and on SourceEcreative as these pop up over the spring and summer), we watched the club present the 2011 GRANDY Award, complete with its $50,000 cash prize, to the Old Spice team from Wieden + Kennedy in Portland.  They won for last year's "Response" follow-up to the "Man Your Man Could Smell Like" TV effort. The online campaign featured YouTube videos of the brand's spokehunk, Isaiah Mustafa, answering actual questions sent in from Old Spice fans via social networking sites.

A wide range of agencies, media companies and production houses took home metals in a roster of categories that reflected the shifting trends in advertising content and deliverables.  Among the Gold ANDY winners were @radical.media, which won for its Johnny Cash Project web site and Arcade Fire's "The Wilderness Below" interactive music video, which was produced for Google Creative Labs to promote the launch of the Chrome web browser.

Also taking home winners from the production community was the music house Human, which won for a spot titled "Selinah" for the Topsy Foundation via Ogilvy Johannesburg, and perennial award-winner MJZ, which won an ANDY for its "There is A Soldier in All of Us" TV spot for the videogame Call of Duty Black Ops, via TBWA\Chiat\Day, L.A.
