SourceEcreative Makes the Scene at Goafest

Indian resort of Cavelossim Beach makes delegates ask, who needs the Gutter Bar?

SourceEcreative was on hand at the recently-concluded Goafest 2010, held at Cavelossim Beach in the Indian state of Goa from April 8 through 10.  We were represented by James Straker, Managing Director, and Simon West, Director of Sales and Media, from our London office.  The festival, now in its fifth year, is the leading advertising competition and event in India.  Sponsored by The Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) in association with The Advertising Club Bombay (ACB), it attracted more than 3000 delegates from the advertising and allied industries who took part in seminars and workshops and gathered to hear speakers from Naked Communications, Ogilvy Digital, Grey Worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis and MindShare, among other firms, who presented keynotes.  Top winners at Goafest this year included Ogilvy & Mather, which took home the Grand Prix for the Vodafone “ZooZoo” campaign in the Best Use of Integrated category, while Nirvana Films of Bangalore won the Grand Prix for the same campaign in the Film Craft category. The competition received close to 4200 entries this year from 137 countries, with the bulk of those coming in the Outdoor, Print and Ambient categories.  A total of 233 Film Craft entries were received from 21 production companies.  (For a full list of winners, go here. SourceEcreative members can check out the winning TV spots here.) The festival’s aim, says its organizers, is to provide opportunities for young talent in the industry to learn and exchange ideas. In keeping with its reputation of bringing together the best minds in the business in an ambience of fun and celebration, the event takes on issues and challenges facing the marketing and communications industry. As always, there’s a generous dose of entertainment like beach sports, parasailing, rain dances and unlimited food and frolic.   From the looks of these pictures, a good time was had by all.
