Not To Scale create fun Easter stop motion for Tesco and BBH
Spot directed by Anthony Farquhar-Smith and created by BBH.
Production company Not To Scale, director/animator Anthony Farquhar-Smith and BBH collaborate to create a fun and light-hearted stop motion for Tesco Easter.
It was the simplest of briefs; stick chicken legs on Easter Eggs and give them some character.
In order to keep a cartoon-like aesthetic, we kept our chicken legs simple and caricatured, rather than realistic. Our Easter Eggs wanted to be as playful and friendly as possible. Conceptually the spot was a simple gag between big eggs and small eggs, and we just needed to work out the best way to find humour in the juxtaposition of those two.

The simplicity of the script appealed to me, and it needed just the right timing to make it funny.
This was a nice and straightforward spot to accomplish technically; our puppet maker attached animatable feet to real product and the set was very minimal.
The challenge was that the shoot was a week before lockdown and we had already tried to implement social distancing, which can be a bit tricky in a studio environment!
"The simplicity of the script appealed to me, and it needed just the right timing to make it funny." Said Anthony.
