new—land welcomes Emilie Thalund
Award-winning Danish director joins for representation in Scandinavia across commercials, music videos and branded content.
Production company new—land welcomes award winning director Emilie Thalund to its roster for representation in Denmark & Sweden.
Thalund first gained international acclaim in 2018 for her debut short film Period, a bold and artistic exploration of a globally taboo topic. The film went on to secure gold at that year’s YDA Cannes Lions, and, in the same year, Emilie was named “Talent of the Year” by the Danish Advertising Industry.
Since then, her work has gone from strength to strength, with Emilie consistently managing to craft visually stunning narratives for brands such as IKEA, Coca Cola, Burt’s Bees and Pandora. Her recent film for Zen Business, You Can Because You Did, was shortlisted at this year’s Cannes Lions in the category of ‘Glass: The Lion for Change’.
Prior to her directing career, Emilie graduated from the Royal Danish Academy with a Master’s degree in Art & Architecture, and her transition from the fine arts to film explains her reputation for being both a sensitive observer and a visually strong narrator. She is currently in development on her first feature film.
Sara Samsøe, EP & Head of Production, new—land Copenhagen, added: "I have always been a huge fan of Emilie - first and foremost she’s been impossible to miss as a female front runner in the industry and then her work is just so visually strong. I’m looking forward to being a part of Emilie’s journey going forward and can’t wait to start working with her.”
