new—land and Gymshark take us through one athlete’s punishing workout

This new film from new-land and up-and-coming Canadian director David Findlay follows Cameroonian mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou through a truly punishing workout, tracing his journey through an almost-unbroken one-shot technique.

Shot with scale and warmth by DoP Hunter Daly, the film was produced by Benedict Turnbull and edited by Brock Newman.

The film follows on the heels of director David Findlay’s recent success in the short film arena with Lay Me By The Shore, which screened at the Berlin Berlinale and Toronto International Film Festivals (among others) this year.
