Since its launch in 2012, auto retail disruptor Carvana has established itself as the leading platform for buying, selling and financing used cars online. For their latest campaign, Carvana turned to design-driven motion studio Ranger & Fox to execute a spot that touted their selling platform, marrying traditional live action alongside a bevy of sophisticated 2D and 3D graphics. The result is a seamless piece that is both informative and premium while still feeling fun and approachable.

Ranger & Fox Creative Directors Brett Morris and Steve Panicara worked closely with the brand’s creative team to realize the vision from concept through delivery, drawing inspiration from the tone of previous spots while anchoring around a design-forward approach.

“We were excited to build on the playful style that Carvana had set with previous spots, and armed with their sassy script we threw as many visual representations of the copy into the mix to see what would stick. Carvana’s creative team loved what we brought to the table and together we worked on setting the tone of the spot.” - says Panicara.

“The brief spoke to us instantly and the use of graphics throughout the piece allowed us to keep it fun while still communicating that this is a sophisticated, tech-forward brand. The design language and color palette emboldened us to use a dynamic mix of slick typography and elevated animation to deliver clever editorial beats that perfectly complement the live action.” - says Morris.

Carvana’s mission is to change the way people buy cars. By removing the traditional dealership infrastructure and replacing it with technology and exceptional customer service, Carvana offers consumers an intuitive and convenient online car buying, selling and financing platform.

Ranger & Fox brings an agile approach to discovery, strategy and visual communication.
