Fort Worth-based music licensing company, Musicbed, announced the official launch of its new TV/Film Division, appointing industry veteran Chris Lavarias to lead the charge as Musicbed’s first Head of TV/Film. 

This new division and senior appointment is the latest evolution for Musicbed as the company looks to more fully serve its clients in today’s ever-evolving marketplace.

“Over the past few years, Musicbed has dipped its toe in TV/Film licenses, but this new division helps us put a stake in the ground. It’s a big step forward in realizing our vision to be the standard in music licensing.”

In this new role, Lavarias will be working collaboratively with music supervisors and trailer houses to meet their needs and expand Musicbed's relationships within the industry. “I'm beyond thrilled to be a part of the Musicbed family,” said Lavarias

Lavarias’ joins Musicbed from Score a Score, where he served as an Executive Producer. Prior to that, he held roles at Dangerbird Records as a Licensing Coordinator and Hidden Track Music as Director of Creative Licensing. During his time at Hidden Track Music, Lavarias pitched and secured placements for frontline electronics artists like Major Lazer (Peace Is the Mission), Flume (Skin, Best Dance/Electronic Album Winner, 2017 Grammy Awards), and Virtual Self, Porter Robinson’s alias (Ghost Voices, Best Dance/Electronic Recording, Nominee, 2019 Grammy Awards).

In addition, Lavarias secured notable early placements for breakout indie acts, CHVRCHES, HAIM, St. Lucia, Vance Joy, The Temper Trap, Gotye, and more,  as well as for influential labels found all over world: Skrillex’s OWSLA/NEST, Tiesto’s Musical Freedom Records, Future Classic (AU), dance label Sweat It Out (AU), and French-Japanese imprint Maison Kitsuné.

Musicbed’s roster of iconic clients and commendable partnerships has helped the company become a major player in the music licensing business over the last decade. Musicbed has secured licensing deals and opportunities for award-winning work with the likes of Nike, Apple, BMW, Mercedes, NBC and CW shows, Netflix originals, Super Bowl commercials and even movie trailers. This new division will set the company up to be better prepared for what's to come in the TV/Film space as the demand for music continues to rise across the entertainment and streaming world.
