Production company Greatcoat Film’s newest hire is producer Micheal Newton, who joins the studio from Lowkey Films.
Newton studied Film Production at UCA Farnham, and spent the last two years of his degree specialising in production, before going freelance in 2018. He worked as a runner and production assistant on various shoots before landing a permanent role at Lowkey Films, where Newton was on the production team making music videos for White Lies and Fredo & Dave, as well as producing sci-fi short film, Silent World, for the BBC.
Newton joins Greatcoat as Music Video Exec Producer supporting the existing roster of directors to develop their style, work with new talent, and further establish Greatcoat’s music department as an industry standout. He brings with him extensive experience working with artists and clients, as well as a calm, problem-solving approach to production, and an interest in supporting newcomers to the industry.
My goal is to support Greatcoat’s roster of directors to become the best they can be, by pushing into more ambitious visuals and narratives
“It’s a great time to be in the creative industry, with so much happening in music videos and social media. It’s a brilliant time to be a filmmaker, and the younger generation joining this industry is crucial. It’s key that we nurture these people and give them opportunities.”
“Micheal brings a wealth of positive energy, a passion for music and a sharp eye for both the creative and technical sides of producing,” says Greatcoat founder Simon Oxley, “He hit the ground running in January and we’re all really happy to have him join the team and make great things happen in 2022 ”
