You Are Here announce the signing of one of Europe’s most prolific and dynamic lifestyle directors, Matthäus Bussmann.
A master of iconic image-making, Bussmann has helmed commercials for numerous brands including BMW, Schweppes, Ballantine’s, Siemens, Coca Cola, Opel & Citroen, and most recently told the story of Porsche in the epic historical sweep through time 60 Very Fast Years.
No stranger to experimental film techniques, he also recently directed an avant-garde dance short made entirely using Unreal content as backgrounds. The film A Part Of You was widely recognised as successfully pushing the creative boundaries of virtual production and Bussmann is now in pre-production with a sequel.
Over his career, Bussmann has directed hundreds of commercials and dozens of music videos, and worked with a long list of international agencies including the likes of DDB, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, Grabatz & Partner and McGarry Bowen.
Bussmann is a die-hard artist at heart, restlessly seeking fresh challenges and new ways of enhancing aesthetics, ideas and narratives. His films are epic, emotive and unexpected. Always achieved through a collaborative, calm and creative working style. “I’m always trying to generate emotional reaction. I create for an imaginative audience. And ultimately on a psychological level try to surprise and challenge them”.
The son of an Art Curator and Professor, creativity is in his DNA and he continues to keep testing the boundaries of originality at every possible opportunity.
Jeremy Goold, Founder & EP of You Are Here says: “Matthäus is one of those rare breeds. An exceptionally versatile filmmaker who knows how to harness to maximum effect the full range of disciplines from casting to choreography, editing and cinematography. I’ve been watching his work in awe for some time and am now incredibly excited at the chance to work together. Wherever his bold cinematic imagination takes us, we look forward to some exciting adventures together”.
