Ukrainian-British writer-director Daniel Liakh, known professionally as LIAKH, has joined the Park Pictures London roster for UK and Amsterdam representation.

Liakh uses absurdist comedy to reveal surprising emotional truths in films that make you laugh and make you think. With a belief that the funniest moments in life sit alongside the most tragic, he is a sharp, strange, and tender storyteller with a deep writer’s instinct..

His films have garnered significant industry acclaim. Dear Art for the Sainsbury’s Centre earned a Gold Young Director Award at Cannes for the way it characterised works of art and entreated them to join the collection. For Monzo’s Irish launch, It’s About Time, he contrasts a lovable luddite local cast and the hyper modern aspects of the app with the most perfectly awkward pace.

His work has been recognised across Cannes YDA, D&AD, Creative Circle, British Arrows, The Clios, and Kinsale Sharks, alongside a nomination for shots New Director of the Year.

"Liakh has a wonderfully distinct comedic voice and an incredible knack for capturing the absurdities of everyday life with warmth and sharp visual humor," says Fran Thompson, Executive Producer and Managing Director at Park Pictures London. "We’re thrilled to welcome him to Park Pictures and can’t wait for what’s ahead.”

"I live right next to Greenwich Park so it’s a no-brainer really. What also helps is that I’m joining an outfit full of very intimidating talent, run by honest and good people . Let’s roll." says Liakh.
