Production company Lammas Park welcomes four new directors to their roster for commercial representation across the UK and Amsterdam.

Following the launch of its commercial arm in December 2021, Lammas Park's venture into the advertising space begins with four new signings. The award-winning production company is dedicated to elevating marginalised voices whilst pushing for a more inclusive and equitable industry and so accordingly has signed a group of talent who reflect this mission.

Mia Powell, New Business Director - Branded says “I am so excited to announce our roster of directors who all come from such varied and exceptional backgrounds. We are breaking the boundaries of conventional advertising with our talent, working on projects with agencies, and direct-to-clients to create nuanced and powerful stories across all branded platforms including commercials, socials, brand-funded entertainment, and beyond into the long-form arena. We’re starting with a fantastic group of multifaceted visionaries and aim to nurture more grassroots directors in the coming months.”

Jade Ang Jackman of mixed British / Chinese Malaysian heritage seeks to tell stories that put women and action front and centre on the screen. Jackman won the BFI’s Young Director Award in 2018 for her short Coming Home and since has made a body of work across commercials, music videos, and documentaries that focus on elevating the unseen and underrepresented, allowing her audiences to engage with her work through a rich tapestry of visuals, movement and soundscapes.

Jade Ang Jackman states “Internationally, Steve McQueen’s name is emblematic of progressive politics and cross-format creativity. As a filmmaker whose practice is deeply connected to my own social beliefs, it is exciting to be part of a production house that not only encourages but authentically champions that. Using movement to enhance my storytelling has become a trademark of my commercial and documentary work and I’m so delighted to be debuting this in my first narrative film alongside the Lammas Park team.”

Born and raised in Coventry by his Nigerian parents, director Samona Olanipekun has developed a strong aesthetic lending itself to the plethora of experiences of the black and brown community in joyous and uplifting compositions. Olanipekun’s first short film, Kindred was commissioned by the Barbican and went on to win Best Experimental at the BAFTA qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival.

Samona Olaipekun adds "I was instantly attracted by the energy and passion from the whole team at Lammas. The atmosphere around the work really feels intimate and everyone has a real passion for telling good stories"

Both directors are currently in production amongst other works, on short fiction films sponsored by a tech brand and which are set to hit the festival circuit next year.

Lammas Park’s endeavour to provide global voices has also taken form in the signing of international directors Alexis Gómez and Theodore Selekos, two artistic storytellers who currently reside in Mexico and Greece respectively.

Alexis Gomez states “When I learned of Lammas Park, I felt chosen to be part of a production company that seeks to leave a mark in the visual world with a similar ethos to my own. I think that as creatives, we have a unique opportunity to share and create new ways of expression, and I am thrilled to be on this journey with the team at Lammas to continue creating stories that impact the world.”

Theodore Selekos adds “I seek to create visual narratives with meaning and emotion, not merely to impress, but to promote products or artists with honest and unique concerns. Being a part of Lammas Park gives me the opportunity to add meaningful details and provides a deeper backstory to the pictures that I'm shaping"

Lammas Park’s advertising division’s mission is to bring socially and culturally transformative narratives to the screen. It is helmed by multi-disciplinary artist and filmmaker Sir Steve McQueen and Exec Producer Anna Smith Tenser, who has managed and held senior role at some of the most esteemed global production companies within the industry, including Iconoclast, Stink, Pulse and Caviar.

Steve McQueen “We are giving emerging talent the space to explore, inspire and generate work that will disrupt the traditional landscape. What can be achieved when stories are told authentically is boundless.”
