KODE announce the signing of London-based filmmaker and writer Nicolee Tsin, to their music-video roster for UK representation.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Tsin champions representation across all areas of film and photography, striving to tell the stories of underrepresented communities in her eclectic work. Inspired by her upbringing in Hong Kong, Tsin’s work takes inspiration from the plentiful colours, sounds and images that shape her memories of the place where she grew up. The vast skyscrapers, neon-lit alleyways and lesser known backstreets hold their own stories, drawn out by Tsin for their hidden romances, charm and grit.

Her current work embodies a unique fusion of Eastern and Western influences and cultures, celebrating the differences and nuances that shape stories and communities.

Tsin’s distinct practice investigates notions of identity, culture and experiences that are unique to underrepresented communities. Her work utilises a curated mix of storytelling, dance and electronic sound, often working collaboratively with fellow creatives to achieve the end product. Tsin’s ambition to improve representation extends to those she works with behind the camera, working to better diversity and representation across all aspects of the film industry.

Tsin has previously worked with artists including Tom Santa, Sola, Amun and Eloise, and has shot branded content for Nike.

Nicolee Tsin, Director, KODE said: “I’m really excited for my new journey with KODE; everything they create comes from the heart, and I am thrilled to be surrounded by an amazing team and be in the company of a roster of directors I respect.”

Nathan Killham, Executive Producer, KODE adds: “I’m really delighted that Nicolee has joined the Kode family. She’s a hugely talented director with a lot to offer, which is clear from the rich and captivating storytelling and striking visuals within her films. I’m really excited for the work we’re about to undertake together!”
