Fashion and lifestyle director and photographer Kathryn Boyd Brolin has joined the roster at Synthetic Pictures for commercial and branded content representation.

Based in Santa Barbara and originally from Atlanta, Boyd Brolin works across stills and live action, with a practice that moves between fashion, lifestyle and celebrity-focused storytelling. Alongside directing, she is a still photographer and brand ambassador for Leica Camera, and has also worked as a model, actress and fashion designer through her clothing line Midheaven Denim.

Her signing follows an introduction to Synthetic Pictures executive producer Allison R. Smith, who first encountered Boyd Brolin’s work through her fashion brand. Smith says: “I already followed Kathryn’s Instagram and saw much of her stunning editorial and commercial photography there. When she then turned me on to her directing work, I knew I wanted her on our team. Her work is both beautiful and grounded, cinematic yet totally natural. It reflects her personality and vice versa, authenticity through and through.”

Boyd Brolin begins her commercial representation with fashion-focused projects, including an ‘L.A. Collection’ series for designer Adriana Iglesias and a ‘Weekend Plans’ campaign for jewellery designer Jacquie Aiche. Synthetic Pictures will represent her live action directing work, while LA-based Stern Reps continues to support her still photography representation.

Recent projects include a video series created as part of her Leica Camera ambassadorship, an album cover commission for Barbra Streisand, and a Billboard Magazine cover and editorial feature featuring Josh Brolin interviewing Chris Stapleton. She also wrote, directed and starred in the short film Mother’s Day, which premiered at HollyShorts and screened at festivals including the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Boyd Brolin is currently developing her first feature film.
