The new campaign titled Tipsy For Cinco builds off of the success of last year’s Cinco de Mayo campaign Cinco To Go that encouraged fans to celebrate by ordering food from independent Mexican restaurants during the pandemic.
This year, Jose Cuervo is urging fans to go big with tips for delivery drivers.
According to MarketWatch, the pandemic has more than doubled the food delivery app business, but unfortunately, the drivers who make all of this possible are not reaping much of the benefits. The Tipsy For Cinco campaign encourages consumers to tip their delivery people generously. Those who tip 20% or more on their Cinco de Mayo meal have the chance to get the whole check covered by Jose Cuervo.

The light-hearted ad spot by Mekanism invites consumers to stay “tipsy” all Cinco de Mayo long.
To further amplify this campaign, Jose Cuervo has partnered with rapper J-Kwon, known for his legendary 2004 single Tipsy, to encourage fans to participate in the Tipsy For Cinco challenge.
David Horowitz, Partner & Executive Creative Director at Mekanism says: “Cinco De Mayo is all about festive food and drink. It’s the perfect time for Cuervo to show appreciation for the delivery drivers who make celebrating at home possible. By rewarding consumers for tipping generously, Cuervo hopes to encourage everyone to share the festive spirit of Cinco De Mayo all month long.”
