Creative post production company JOINT has hired Annie Maldonado as Executive Producer of Offline and Audio and Tina Starkweather as Executive Producer overseeing VFX/Finish in a restructuring of leadership out of its Portland office.

Maldonado got her start at storied movie trailer shops and moved through reputable production and post-production houses. She most recently worked at award-winning editorial shop, Whitehouse Post, where she served as its Head of Production. With 17 years of post-production experience, she has worn numerous producer hats, everything from line producer, to all elements of post-production, but her heart has always been in the edit.

“I am beyond excited to be stepping into the role of Executive Producer and look forward to helping JOINT in solidifying its talent offerings and capabilities,” said Maldonado. “I'm especially inspired to be planting professional roots in my new home of Portland and continuing to build JOINT as a leader in the local (and global) post production community.”

Tina Starkweather is New York born, LA sharpened, and now Portland-based, as JOINT’s new Executive Producer for Visual Effects and Finish. Starkweather’s career has spanned over 16 years in design, animation and VFX.

Starkweather’s noteworthy roles include Head of Production at acclaimed studios like Electric Theatre Collective, Imaginary Forces, and most recently, Carbon VFX. Starkweather’s talents have left an indelible mark with two of her previous projects earning Emmy Awards, Coca Cola's Heist and the opening titles for Stranger Things. She also oversaw the post-production efforts for Melanie Martinez’s VMA-nominated music video, Void.

“JOINT has always been an exceptionally warm and welcoming place and I look forward to helping build out its team and services,” said Starkweather. “I truly appreciate having the opportunities to work with the best and brightest talent in the industry where I know we’ll create superb work.”

In her new role, Starkweather will oversee a team of visual effects supervisors and artists, including CG and animation as well as colour capability.

In other exciting news at JOINT, award-winning writer, director, producer, actor, and editor Ann Lupo has joined the team as an Editor. Lupo’s editing experience includes work for Ford F-150 commercials, Vogue editorial features, music videos for bands like U2, and Vimeo Staff Picked short documentaries.

Additionally, long-time JOINT Executive Producer Kathleen Russell has been elevated to Head of Operations where she will now oversee day-to-day functions.

And finally, JOINT has also hired additional two roles further expanding the team. Suat Ayas joins the team as Lead Audio Engineer and Andrew Siner as VFX Supervisor. Ayas is an Emmy-nominated sound designer and audio post professional with over 15 years of experience crafting audio for commercials, television and film from the likes of Beats by Dre, Pepsi, GQ, Red Bull, HBO, and BMW.

Siner is a seasoned VFX professional and has worked at major studios like Framestore, Method, Elastic, ETC, Blur, and Carbon. His portfolio includes projects for high-profile clients like Apple, Netflix, Samsung, AMC, Google, Toyota, Ford, Nike, and Adidas.

“We are so excited about the new additions to our team at JOINT,” said Orlee Tatarka, head of Joint and W+K Portland production department. “Expanding and elevating our leadership team to support our exceptional talent will allow us to continue offering top of the line services across post-production, while also continuing to innovate for our clients across the board.”
