Jake Mavity is an award-winning director/writer renowned for his playful and narrative driven filmmaking with a huge emphasis on film craft.

His fresh approach to finding undiscovered talent always means his work feels naturalistic and original. With a background in editing all of Mavity’s work comes with a sense of precision and confidence that comes to life in each frame.

This assured approach to filmmaking has resulted in him being recognised at a variety of prestigious festivals. Winning numerous awards for his work in narrative, music videos and advertising, including at the British Arrows, D&AD, 1.4 Awards, Creative Circle, London International Awards and The Clios. Plus he has picked up a handful of Cannes Lions too.

Mavity often takes an experimental approach, having used stopframe animation, 360º cameras, moving sets and even 5 smartphones rigged together for unique and surprising executions. He has shot films for Google, McDonald's, Nescafé, National Lottery, Amazon, Premier Inn, Vodafone and Co-op amongst others.

Recently Mavity has put out a new short film Mum that explores female homelessness and is currently having a lot of BIFA festival success and with good reason, the film showcases Mavity’s ability to capture authentic performances with beautiful cinematic imagery.

One of Mavity's most recent commercial pieces saw him team up with Leo UK for the big brand relaunch for Post Code Lottery which once again highlights Mavity's natural ability to capture genuine human moments featuring players before and after their wins.

"The Corner Shop has some of the best storytellers in the game, so I’m chuffed to bring my style of big-emotional filmmaking on board." said Mavity.

"Having a talented filmmaker like Jake on the roster only strengthens The Corner Shop's creative output and his approach to crafting compelling and human stories aligns with our ethos for creating narrative rich films and commercials that resonate with audiences from across the world. We cannot wait to get started on this new creative chapter together and look forward to sharing more with everyone in the near future." adds Anna Hashmi, The Corner Shop Founder.
