Jacobine van Hellemond is a rare talent, an observational director, coaxing out natural performances in her actors.

Coupled with a stunning photographic eye she has a very bright future. Her award-winning short film The Knuckle Princess is an inspiring and emotive piece of film that is a centre piece to exactly what she is about.

After completing a master’s degree in history at the University of Amsterdam, van Hellemond went on to study photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in the Hague. van Hellemond then fell in love with moving images, film became her preferred method to observe and share stories of human interaction, capturing precious moments of intimacy and vulnerability on screen.

"This is why she is one of the most exciting directors on the circuit. Both Madeleine Sanderson and I are very excited to welcome her to Curate." said Dan Dickenson.
