Hooligan Promotes Zach Hinden to Staff Editor
After years of cutting commercials at Hooligan, Hinden is promoted to full staff editor.
Hooligan, a creative postproduction boutique that specializes in artistic offline editing and visual effects, has promoted Zach Hinden to a staff editor position. Previously a junior editor, Hinden has already cut commercials and branded content for Hawaiian Tropic, LLS, Just for Men, and Harvoni.
“Zach gets so *@#&! obsessed with a project that you start to worry, but then he comes out of it with something that blows you away,” remarks Hooligan Partner/Editor Eric Carlson. “He's gone down all the rabbit holes and found it down there – the surprises, the humor, the powerful stories – and it’s *@#&! brilliant!”
“From client services to logging dailies to assistant editing, the breadth of experience I’ve gained at Hooligan through the years has primed me for this position,” adds Hinden, whose tenure with the company has brought him many challenges. “Not only have I been able to hone my craft working under exceptionally talented people, but I’ve also gained a deep appreciation for the value of relationships in this industry. Whether it’s creative problem-solving or keeping a fun, positive spirit collaborating and meeting with clients, I’ve seen first-hand the correlation between the level of loyalty and the caliber of work that comes out of Hooligan.”
The son of two career Madison Avenue professionals, Hinden jumped head first into the world of advertising. He studied mass communications as a member of Tau Epsilon Phi at The University of Delaware. Wanting to further his postproduction knowledge, he accepted an internship at A Cool Dry Place. It was here that he became enamored by the editorial craft, which he found rekindled his passion for solving puzzles.
“I’ve always enjoyed the idea of dumping all of the jigsaw pieces on the table and finding a solution with a rewarding and aesthetically pleasing outcome – and with editing, there’s a thousand exciting ways of going about solving the puzzle, narratively and visually,” explains Hinden.
It wasn’t long before Hinden was introduced to Carlson, his mentor of the next several years. Through this professional partnership, Hinden immersed himself in every facet of the postproduction business, while contributing to commercial campaigns for Chevron, Vicks, and Time Warner Cable, among many other notable brands.
“Hooligan is like a second family to me and I’m sure a lot clients share the same sentiment,” concludes Hinden. “I’m humbled and grateful for them giving me my first break, as well as grooming me for this new opportunity.”
