Hamlet signs Kyra Bartley to roster
Bartley joins the roster for representation in Belgium, France, China, Germany and the Netherlands.
International production company Hamlet have signed award winning Australian director Kyra Bartley to their roster for representation in Belgium, France, China, Germany and the Netherlands.
Bartley began her career in commercial animation and design. With a keen interest in exploring creative opportunities in unexpected places, she found herself setting up Cambodia's first professional animation studio which she ran for three years. Her film Love is Love, a global collaborative animation project, earned her a spot on the shortlist for the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase at Cannes Lions in 2017.
Dipping her toes into the world of live action, Bartley's work earned her a reputation for elevated yet intimate storytelling. She draws on her background in fine art, animation and post-production to bring a multidisciplinary approach to her projects, showcasing a natural talent for pushing the boundaries between the real and the fantastical. This has enabled her to create category defining work for brands such as Google, UNHCR and Vodafone, whilst being recognised at Cannes, Shots, D&AD and Ciclope along the way.
Jason Felstead, co-founder and Executive Producer of Hamlet said:“First and foremost: Kyra is an artist. I find her background in animation very interesting and feel the artistry and sensitivities that stem from her animation work in her live action work. She has a great personality and when you put great scripts in the hands of great personalities you end up with beautiful films and that’s exactly what we aim for with Kyra. We’re extremely happy she has joined our roster in Europe and China and I’m looking very much forward to working with her!”
Bartley added: "As an Australian director looking to expand internationally, Europe is where I’m most excited to work. So I knew that finding the right creative home there would be a big decision, but the team at Hamlet made it easy; their commitment to championing bold and beautifully crafted work makes me certain that we’ll be able to dream up some magic together. The Hamlet roster has so many wonderfully distinct talents, and I am incredibly proud to be able to add my voice alongside them."
