Hamburg Media School spotlight a hidden condition impacting millions worldwide
Simon&Paul presents Missing a new film highlighting Amenorrhea, directed by emerging talent Ali Kneer and produced by Joana Grabowsky.
Simon&Paul announce the release of Missing, a socially significant film directed by Ali Kneer and produced by Joana Grabowsky, created for The Female Company.
With a nuanced focus on amenorrhea, the absence of menstruation, Missing explores the challenges faced by those affected by this often overlooked condition, which impacts over 70 million people. Through the lens of Kneer’s direction and Grabowsky’s production expertise, the film sheds light on an experience largely unseen in media, especially from a brand centered on period-related products.
Missing represents the collaborative work of Kneer and Grabowsky, graduates of the Hamburg Media School, with Simon&Paul providing essential production support to realise their vision. The film’s storytelling is driven by a compelling script from Sarah Cossmann and enhanced by the captivating cinematography of Luca Louis Hain. Together, this team has crafted a thought provoking narrative aimed at both increasing visibility for amenorrhea and showcasing the unique talents of these rising filmmakers.

The Female Company premiered Missing last Thursday at a special event featuring influencer Stefanie Giesinger, aiming to broaden public awareness around this underrepresented condition. By focusing on amenorrhea, Missing brings a fresh perspective on health that intersects with the company’s commitment to destigmatising menstrual health.
“Joana and Ali have brilliantly tackled a complex topic with sensitivity and creative depth, and we’re honoured to support their work on ‘Missing,’” said Simon Fessler, Executive Producer at Simon&Paul.
“They have crafted a powerful film that resonates deeply, opening up dialogue around amenorrhea and showcasing their talent in a meaningful way.”
