Sid Meier's Civilization VII, the latest iteration of the legendary video game series that has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide, entices players with a new live-action trailer.

Starring Gwendoline Christie of Game of Thrones and Wednesday and directed by Marcelo Burgos of Chromista, the trailer’s mythic and industrial cinematic landscape sets the stage for the infinite ways players can shape the game’s fictional world.

In an endlessly grand environment, Gwendoline Christie approaches a series of intricate structures made of tubes that, upon further inspection, contain various scenescapes that come to life as the film’s star observes them. While beholding these scenes, Christie’s voiceover and direct-to-camera address philosophically comment on the encapsulated moments of war, innovation, and discovery throughout time. Weighing all the scenes equally as one of many limitless possibilities, the film ends with an empowered Christie sitting on a modern-day throne and daring the audience to reimagine civilization and build something they believe in.

Marcelo Burgos, Director said: “This was a dream job, working for such a beloved franchise meant a lot. 2K Creative team projects are always as fun as they are challenging. It was a lengthy process, from script development to delivery, but I enjoyed every day. We hope the CIV fans are just as proud of the campaign as we are.”

“Gwendoline is such an amazing actress, a true talent who Civ fans know and love. We’re thrilled to be working with her for Sid Meier’s Civilization VII,” stated Sami Thessman, Senior Vice President of Global Creative for 2K Games.

“Together with our partners at Chromista, we’re honoured to bring the vision of the game to life, the endless potential of human ingenuity and the spirit of hope that drives the franchise forward!
