Through in-depth conversations with the cast, including notable names such as comedian Fats Timbo and actor Tylan Grant, the team crafted scenes that authentically represented the everyday barriers disabled people confront. Em, one of the cast members who is hard of hearing, inspired the film's opening bus scene, sharing their experience of being questioned about their Freedom Pass.
“This project was all about understanding the real experiences of disabled individuals. Casting became our research tool, helping us find the truth behind each story,.” adds said Blake Claridge, Director at Gusto Film.
With its energising soundtrack and raw, personal storytelling, the film strikes a chord, amplifying Scope’s message of inclusivity and empowering people to confront and overcome everyday obstacles.
