A creative-led artist collective founded in 2010 by composers Jay Wadley and Trevor Gureckis, Found Objects Music Productions was named one of Inc’s. 5000 Fastest-Growing Companies in America.

Specializing in creating textured, intelligent, and innovative music and sound for film, TV, and brands, the creative studio has doubled its revenue over the past three years. This growth is in major part due to the studio’s acclaimed work for brands like Google, Nordstrom, Hennessy, Mountain Dew, YouTube, BMW, and Oreo, and composing original scores for award-winning filmmakers including M. Night Shyamalan, Charlie Kaufman, and James Schamus. Surpassing milestones set in previous years, Found Objects achieved significant growth in employee headcount, service offerings, client partnerships, and agency accolades in 2020.

“To come out of this challenging past year as a thriving small business is all the more meaningful, as we continue to solidify our leading position in the music and sound industry,” said Jay Wadley, founder of Found Objects. “Our growth is more than a story of surpassing revenue goals and winning new clients, it’s a testament to the hard-working, passionate team at Found Objects and our commitment to being world-class creative partners who love helping our clients thrive. I’m incredibly proud of our team, not only for the exceptional creative work they do but also for the fun, collaborative, and impactful culture we have built together. We look forward to reaching new heights in 2021.”

Office Expansion and Growth

In January 2020, Found Objects moved into its new 4,300 sq ft space in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Their the state-of-the-art production studio now includes three sound-proofed studios with vocal booths, remote recording capabilities, and a live room and a 5.1 mix room – where they recently hosted the score mix for John Chu’s upcoming film adaptation of Lin Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights (Warner Brothers).

Furthering its growth and looking ahead to the return of in-person sessions, the company has expanded its services in Sound Design and Mix, and added Score Production Supervision services, led by industry veteran and Head of Production,Matt Nelson. Nelson supervised score production for both Wadley and Gureckis, including I’m Thinking of Ending Things (Netflix), Servant (Apple TV+), and I Carry You with Me (Sony). This new addition brings new opportunities to support and expand Found Objects’ eclectic and high-caliber community of composers, creatives, and filmmakers.

Found Objects has also opened a new office in Denver, home to major agencies, brands, and key clients. “We’ve had our eyes on a Western expansion for some time now,” said Wadley. “With our Executive Producer, Jennie Armon, forging new partnerships and creative resources in our Midwest/West Coast presence, we can more easily and meaningfully collaborate with our partners from coast to coast.”

Found Objects’ ability to work with artists, musicians, and partners remotely during the pandemic, however, enabled the firm to seamlessly service clients worldwide with remote mix and recording sessions, live recording capabilities including piano and strings, plus insightful creative evaluations and world-class original music.

All of this growth of talent and resources is already paying off as Found Objects’ client work has already garnered three Clios this year, including a Silver Clio for Film Craft (Adapted Music), and is shortlisted as some of the best in the industry across several major 2021 upcoming advertising award shows.

Employee Growth and New Hires

With more space comes more people, and Found Objects has doubled its headcount in the past three years, adding leadership resources for continued momentum. Among key hires is Katt Matt, a Producer and Music Supervisor who will focus on music supervision and original music production.

Matt has accomplished a lot in her time in the music business, in artist management, independent labels, publishing, and building a creative licensing department for a music tech company. On the label side, Matt was part of a music synch team, securing placements of artists such as The Rolling Stones and Sam Cooke for brands like Nike and award-winning shows like Big Little Lies (HBO), Westworld (HBO), and Atlanta (FX). Internal promotions also include Ben Marshall to Creative Director, Adam Weiss to Composer, and Agatha Lee to Associate Music Producer.
