Five Questions from Quarantine: Vaclav Sladek
The Creative Embassy producer/MD tells us how he'd rather have his family around him than anyone else, and how a spot of work on his country house is his video-detox.
What's your self-isolation set-up at the moment?
Well my self-isolation is with my family, surrounded by my wife and three kids.
Fortunately, we're in the middle of the woods, so out of the city or any large amount of people.
It's lockdown; aside from your family, which four people, past or present, would you most like to be quarantined with?
This is a tricky question.
If I would come up with some name I know later on it would be somebody else.
I happy with my family and I would not change this.
We need entertainment, what's your favourite short film?
I don't really have a favourite one, but I am currently watching ZeroZeroZero.
It really impresses me as its cinematography is so well done.
You've completed Netflix. And Amazon Prime. And Disney+. It's on the hard stuff; board games. What do you pick and why?
I pick anything besides that.
Rather than watch anything, I go in the woods or work on the country house.
It is kind of a detox for me, from moving pictures:-)
On a serious note, how do you think this situation will impact you individually, and the industry as a whole?
It is hard to pretend.
I think mainly it will affect creativity the most, as I strongly believe that the clients will ask for more hard-sell commercials than anything else.
Basically, most of the upcoming commercials will not be made as a stand alone short video, with any nice cinematography.
