Production company Familia announce the multidisciplinary talent Lu Xiao-Wei joins their film and photography roster. The Tawianese-born, London-based Lu will be represented for both stills and moving image in the UK, US and the Netherlands.

Her award-winning films have garnered her a swathe of eclectic clients like i-D, Adidas, Nike, Audible and Dyson. Lu’s work is heavily influenced from the East Asian upbringing of her childhood and the British culture grit from her adulthood; creating a fresh, juxtaposition that is uniquely her. Her visuals are gregariously striking and poppy; in your face in the best possible way.

Choreography and movement play a huge part in Lu’s body of work; indelibly linked to her natural and emotive style. Her short doc The Filial Daughter is a unique portrait about the women who work as professional mourners in Taiwan; and is a beautiful depiction of the the body and the mind moving in tandem.

From Lu Xiao-Wei, “As a film director and visual artist who strives to create boundary-breaking visuals that bring marginalised narratives to the mainstream, I’m thrilled to be represented by the brilliantly innovative team at Familia. Really excited to join forces with a production company that supports my vision. Together we’ll be delivering beautiful but authentic content with a youthful, bold and unapologetic tone of voice”

From Head of Sales, Ailie Robertson, “I am absolutely thrilled to have a director like Lu join our Familia roster. I love how she approaches her filmmaking; with intelligence, method and heart. I also love that no two films feel like they are coming from the same place, or the same point of view. Lu has a million stories to tell. And we could not be more excited to tell them with her.”

Represented in the UK by Ailie Robertson for commercials, and Ryan Morgan and OB Management for music videos.
