French director, screenwriter, and producer, Elora Thevenet’s work lies at the intersection of documentary and contemporary auteur cinema.
Through a sensitive and immersive approach, she creates work that focuses on artistic dynamics, collective narratives, and emerging voices.
Her first feature-length documentary, Charbon, offers a deep dive into the heart of the Paris artistic and queer scene, capturing the energy of a generation in motion. She continues this exploration with projects such as Oikonomia, selected for several international festivals, followed by Bardot. Presented in the Official Selection (Cinéma de la Plage) at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, this documentary approaches the French icon through her archives, her own voice, and those of numerous personalities such as Naomi Campbell, Stella McCartney, Marina Abramović, and Paul Watson.
Alongside her work as a director, Thevenet produces projects with an international scope, contributing to works such as Swimming Home (selected in Tribeca) and Salvable (starring Shia Labeouf). She also worked on cast and development for 120 BPP (Grand Prix à Cannes). This dual approach allows her to develop a cross-disciplinary vision of cinema, balancing creative direction with support for filmmakers.
Her visual style, which is both poetic and contemplative, emphasises a close connection with his subjects and a keen eye for detail. Her films explore the concepts of memory, identity, and representation, while highlighting emerging communities and figures.
As a director, her next cinema steps she is developing a series with Lacoste, a sci-fi series and a full length movie. And for advertising? See what’s coming with La Pac.
