AICE Awards Marks 10th Anniversary in New York

Editors and other post production artists are celebrated as the industry
gathers to honor its own at its glittery annual awards show and party.

The 10th anniversary AICE Awards played to a packed house on Park Avenue.

Madison Avenue moved uptown on Tuesday night, May 17, as the New York chapter of AICE took over the high-ceilinged event space at 583 Park Avenue to host the 10th Anniversary AICE Awards. The annual competition recognizing creative excellence in post production rotates between New York, Los Angles and Chicago, and is hosted each year by the trade organization's chapters based in those cities.  This year was New York's turn, and it was only fitting, since the competition got its start in Manhattan 10 years ago when a group of editors got together to pick the ten-best edited TV spots produced by AICE member companies that year.  (For a full rundown on winners, check our SourceEcreative story here.)

The highlight of each awards ceremony is the induction of a retired editor into the AICE Hall of Fame. This year, former jumP partner Barry Stilwell was inducted.  Stilwell was introduced by his former partner, Editor Michael Saia, whose emotional speech set the tone for a moving and often funny tribute video that followed, featuring testimonials from former partners, colleagues and clients of Stilwell.

The action moved downstairs at 583 Park after the awards show, where an after-party rocked the joint until late into the night - as only New Yorkers know how to do it.  Photos from the event appear below, many of them courtesy of Doug Goodman and AICE. For more on the winners, check out the AICE Awards web page here.
