Directors Guild roster widens with new directors
Directors Sonya Akulshina and Niko Hirvimäki are joining Directors Guild for exclusive representation.
Directors Guild Helsinki strengthens its representation with two next-generation directors, Sonya Akulshina and Niko Hirvimäki.
Sonya Akulshina, 25, is a visual artist who keenly visualises human experiences with a touch of nostalgic magic. Akulshina has a knack for creating films that not only capture interest but leave an emotional imprint on the viewer. This is proven by her hundreds of thousand followers who admire her work on social media platforms worldwide.
“It’s been a pleasure working with a director who has a unique way of seeing and capturing beauty in small everyday things. Sonya has an exceptional ability to bring out all those otherwise invisible moments in her own personal style,” comments Siiri Koponen, a producer at Directors Guild.
Before joining Directors Guild, Akulshina collaborated with several well-known brands such as Gucci, Tom Tailor, and Fujifilm.
“After getting used to working alone, it has been amazing to have such a professional production company supporting me. It gives more freedom and confidence to realise my vision. This is a very exciting new chapter in my life, and I can't wait to see what it brings,” says Sonya Akulshina.
Niko Hirvimäki, 28, brings a contrasting vision and visual distinctiveness with his skillful in-camera effects. Hirvimäki;s strong background in music videos brings variety to his films with modern camera techniques and interesting cuts.
“It feels really exiting to jump into Directors Guild’s representation. Working with such a professional team gives great support for realizing my visions. The collaboration feels like a step forward in my directing career, and I look forward to what the next months will bring,” comments Hirvimäki.
Hirvimäki has already collaborated with artists such as Ege Zulu, Gettomasa, Joalin, and JVG. He has also worked with several well-known brands, including Marimekko, Björn Borg, and Swappie.
“The advertising industry is in constant change and requires quick but thoughtful reacting also from the production company. With these new director signings, we expand our expertise and can offer even more diverse perspectives and added value to advertisers,” concludes Siiri Koponen.
