Director Julia Ngeow’s globetrotting roots began in Sydney, moved to Singapore before finding her way to Brooklyn by way of Perth.

Her upbringing was a melange of Chinese and Celtic heritage, and it has equipped her with a unique perspective to craft heart-warming films that showcase our human interconnectedness and vulnerabilities.

Schooled in Biophysics and Neuroscience, Ngeow's recent cinematic ventures have taken a scenic route through the lush landscapes of nature, health and wellness. She effortlessly navigates the intricate crossroads where art meets science, producing films that are as enlightening as they are enchanting.

Ngeow's cinematic repertoire includes tales of intrepid souls embarking on one-way journeys to Mars, plucky Australians trying to change the world one meditation session at a time, and spirited young women using the medium of zombies to uncover the wonders of STEM (earning her a coveted Clio Gold award in 2022).

When she's not making movies, you might spot her tending her sustainable garden, diving headfirst into the uncharted depths of the human mind, or capturing the celestial beauty of the night sky. Ngeow has been playing the bagpipes since the age of 12 but don’t let that put you off. She’s otherwise perfectly delightful.

Bang TV MD Jeremy McWilliams said “Julia's work has a gentle standout quality that is immensely engaging. Her name Siu-Yin means elegance and grace, as well as possibly heroism. Sums her films up pretty well I think.”
