Director Hadi Shuaib joins Friend for representation in the UK and Netherlands.

What shines through in Shuaib’s work is heart, a love story telling, creative ideas and imagination, this underpinned with his ethos that making a commercial require a collaborative mind set and a fundamental skill at the fine art of problem solving.

He believes that good advertising, like classic cinema requires a passion for storytelling, an imaginative eye and thoughtful framing and a belief in realising ideas on screen. Shuaib is a film geek, he has a particular passion for French cinema, notably Jacques Audiard. It is this genre of artful storytelling that underpins what he does, a resolve to marry arthouse cinema and stunning visuals into his craft.

Born in Nigeria, Shuaib moved to the UK aged 9. He studied at the London Film School in Covent Garden in the early noughties and then spent the next few year well... having a lot of fun whilst living in Ladbroke Grove, before settling down to a career as a director. This love of life, people and experience brings an empathetic and astute eye to his work, his beautifully photographic brand of visual story telling.

He’s worked all over the world for iconic brands from Johnny Walker to Mercedes, Vodafone, Citreon, Audi and HSBC. He is most at home in the UK where he lives with his family, the only thing coming close to his love of film is his love of football that he plays, watches and talks about at any given opportunity.

MD Luke Jacobs says of Shuaib: "We’re delighted to welcome Hadi on the roster. His cinematic, elegant work really cuts through .. plus he’s a thoroughly nice guy’

Shuaib on Friend: "Coincidentally my DP is called Luke Jacobs, now I’ve I found a producer called Luke Jacobs. I’m considering changing my name to Luke Jacobs, by deed pol, to complete the set... But seriously sometimes your gut just tells you “This feels like Home” and that was the case with Friend."
