Director Dylan Simel joins Field Unit
Simel brings a distinct, craft-forward approach to commercial storytelling.
Field Unit announce that Dylan Simel has officially joined its roster of directors, marking an exciting new chapter for both the filmmaker and the rapidly growing production company.
Based in New York City, Simel brings years of experience as a creative director, where he built a reputation for sharp conceptual thinking, emotional storytelling, and a strong visual point of view. His background leading creative across major campaigns has shaped him into a director who understands not only how to craft compelling stories but also how to anchor them in strategy and intention.
Over the course of his career, Simel has collaborated with globally recognised brands including Nike, Ford Motor Company, Kaiser Permanente, Google, McLaren F1, and the National Football League.
At Field Unit, Simel will continue pushing narrative-driven commercial storytelling while expanding into new creative territory. His addition reflects the company’s commitment to building a roster of directors who are as conceptually rigorous as they are visually distinct.
Simel’s creative philosophy centres on emotional impact in an increasingly homogenised commercial landscape.
“I want people to feel something when they watch my work,” says Simel. “Whether that be a rare smile, familial warmth, or a jolt of inspiration, I believe good work should stir something in us.”
That emotional focus is matched by a rigorous commitment to craft. “If it has my name attached, it has to have style and intrigue,” he continues. “My filmmaking techniques should elevate each story. The work I'm most proud of has both style and substance. You can feel the difference.”
“We’re really excited to be working with Dylan,” said Alec Ernest, co-founder and Executive Producer at Field Unit. “He has a deep understanding of people, and with a successful agency-side career, he knows how to translate human stories into powerful films for brands. I believe in him and his work. I know what he can do for our clients, and he’s just great to be around.”
