Production company Bunker announce the signing of award-winning film and television director Craig Zobel.

Most recently Zobel was the sole director for the acclaimed HBO series Mare of Easttown, starring Kate Winslet. The series was nominated for 16 Emmys and won 4, including Best Actress for Kate Winslet.

Zobel was the director and showrunner of the Paramount+ mini-series One Dollar. He directed Akane no Mai, aka the ShogunWorld episode, in Westworld season two.  His episode of the Neil Gaiman adaptation, American Gods detailing the character Laura Moon’s history was hailed by critics, and one of his episodes of HBO’s critical hit, The Leftovers, titled International Assassin, is a fan favourite. 

Zobel’s most recent film, The Hunt, starring Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, Emma Roberts, and Ike Barinholtz was produced by Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures.

Zobel's first three features all premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Great World of Sound earned him Breakthrough Director honors at the Gotham Awards, and Independent Spirit Awards nominations for Best First Film and Best Supporting Actor. Critically acclaimed Compliance, won a Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival, a nomination at the Critic’s Choice Awards, and an Independent Spirit Award of Best Supporting Actress for Ann Dowd. Z for Zachariah, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chris Pine, and Margot Robbie premiered in Sundance’s US Dramatic Competition, and was released by Roadside Attractions.  

Zobel’s producing efforts include David Gordon Green’s Prince Avalanche, winner of the Berlinale Silver Bear, and the 2016 Toronto and New York Film Festival debut of Dash Shaw’s animated feature My Entire High School Sinking Into The Sea.
