Finding New Ways to Celebrate Creativity & Great Content

Berlin Commercial (formerly the Berlin Fashion Film Festival) is a multifaceted conference and online platform addressing the growing demand for transparency and accessibility to the creative video industry. The annual summit celebrates the most iconic music videos, personal projects, and culturally relevant commercials of the year.

Traditionally, the event is shaped as a two-day summit at the end of the summer. This year, the conference and awards show will be transported online through an interactive programme, with contributions from the best creative minds from the advertising, film and lifestyle industries.

The Age of Collaboration

The theme for the upcoming edition was announced at the beginning of this year as The Age of Collaboration - a topic now more relevant than ever. The festival organisers are inviting their network of young and established creatives, brave and trend-savvy clients, production companies, and agency reps to collaborate in building the festival’s virtual programme. Understanding the importance of showcasing the creative industry’s new work and energy during a time of production standby, this year’s programme will provide visibility to outstanding video content, as well as ensure that connections are formed and reinforced despite the lack of a physical event.

Let us be your Stage

Berlin Commercial is setting up a range of interactive opportunities for its audience in an approachable, relaxed, hierarchy-free setting. The organisers are currently running a free open call for 4-Minute-Keynotepresentations.  The presentations will be reviewed by a creative team of producers from Berlin Commercial’s network, with the selected ones becoming part of the official programme.

Commenting on the upcoming edition, Berlin Commercial’s managing director Philipp Ulita states: “We’re not giving up on 2020. The challenge now lies in understanding how to adapt our workflows, team structures, and survival tactics. By inviting our community to join the virtual programme with high-density presentations, we are offering the chance to create a lasting memory for years to come and prove once more what an exciting, entrepreneurial and collaborative place the ad industry has become.”

Berlin Commercial’s Awards: Business as Usual

Regardless of the change in programming, Berlin Commercial’s awards competition is running as usual. Being aware of the havoc the pandemic is causing to the creative industry, the organisers have lowered the submission fees and barred any increase until the final deadline. They are also offering free upgrades, free strategic advice on categories, and tailored entry models for emerging talents.

Names such as Object & Animal, Lief, shots, RadicalMedia, Rekorder, Solab, Akkurat, Rattling Stick, Superprime, Anomaly Berlin, MPC, 72andSunny Amsterdam, Universal Music Publishing Group and many more form part of this year’s jury. In line with this edition’s collaborative approach, in addition to voting for the winners the jury is also involved in shaping the event through their valuable guidance and input.

There will be an exclusive coverage on shots for winning work and the directors.
