Behold the Bain’s Whisky Experiment (Pata Pata Reimagined)

In this spot the late South African singer, Miriam Makeba is brought back to screen alongside contemporary musical talents of Msaki and Sun-EL Musician.

Paying tribute to the enormous influence that Miriam Makeba had, and continues to have, on South African music, it features a remixed version of Makeba’s 1967 hit song Pata Pata. The new song called Pata Pata – Saguquka will be available for download soon.

The VFX team from Black Ginger, worked closely with director, Zwelethu Radebe and agency, Horaah Digital to bring Miriam Makeba back for one more performance. Making use of a body double, stock footage and even some deep fake technology we are able to celebrate and acknowledge South African creatives, past and present, who never settle and continue to innovate, advancing their craft while influencing and inspiring future artists for generations to come.
