BBC Creative announces Richard Biggs as new ECD
Biggs will join the BBC’s in‑house creative agency later this year from Uncommon Creative Studio, bringing over a decade of experience.
BBC Creative has announced that Richard Biggs will be joining this spring as their new Executive Creative Director.
Biggs will join the BBC’s in‑house creative agency later this year from Uncommon Creative Studio, bringing over a decade of experience leading culturally relevant, award‑winning work for some of the UK’s most recognisable brands.
Biggs’s expansive portfolio spans brand‑defining campaigns across broadcast, digital and experiential, including high‑profile work for clients in retail, entertainment and public service. His projects have been recognised at major awards shows, including Cannes Grand Prix and D&AD Black Pencils.
In his new role, Biggs will help steer the creative vision for some of the BBC’s most ambitious campaigns, working closely with the senior leadership team to continue elevating the corporation’s public‑service storytelling.
Justin Bairamian, Director of BBC Creative said: “Richard is one of the real talents of his generation, and as we celebrate our 10th year, we’re thrilled for this next chapter of BBC Creative with Richard at the helm.”
Biggs added: “CBBC after school. Ceefax live scores. 6Music between lectures. Homesickness-curing WILTY clips. Numberblocks. The BBC has been there for me at every stage of my life. It’s a weird thing to say about a place you’ve never worked, but this feels like coming home. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
A spokesperson from Uncommon Creative Studio said: “Richard has played a pivotal role in Uncommon Creative Studio’s journey, helping build some of our most defining work and shaping the culture of the studio. While we’ll miss him enormously, we’re incredibly proud to see him take on this next chapter at the BBC, a place where his values, creativity and commitment to meaningful ideas will thrive.”
Nils Leonard, Founder of Uncommon Creative Studio said: “Rich is a classy creative, a rare talent. He’s led excellent and awarded work for a variety of clients, including the reference point Hiscox work from the studio and has done it all with integrity, grace, wisdom and a care missing in our game right now. It’s sad when people go but the dream is always that great people leave the studio for great things: we wish him the absolute best taking on this iconic position.”
