The latest recruit to Bang TV's French Foreign Legion, Pierre-Edouard Joubert is a man who balances Gallic charm and blistering talent with an effortless panache.
Setting aside his childhood yearnings to be a pirate, he side-stepped neatly into advertising. His background in motion graphic design has given him a painstaking approach to every frame he creates. Combining this craft with an innate understanding of the rhythms of good storytelling, he’s successfully made the move into live action film making, building a reel of music videos, 3D Animation projects and outstanding commercials.
He’s already scooped a cupboard-full of major trophies. His film from the Addicte’Aide Like my Addiction campaign won a Graphite pencil and seventeen Cannes Lions (yes, seventeen!), and his most recent short film A Girl and a Gun really should have two posters to adequately display all the awards and film festival laurels he’s earned.
And if you’ve ever had a tattoo on a foreign holiday you need to check out his 2022 commercial for DuoLingo. It could spare you a lot of embarrassment next time you are flexing at the gym.
Bang’s MD Jeremy McWilliams got in touch with Pierre-Edouard after spotting his work and signed him up on the spot.
“He’s a remarkably talented chap. The DuoLingo film is a huge leap forward in the scale of his work but it shows that he’s capable of great things. He’s the sort of director who brings a script to life without imposing himself in it.”
