Apple launched a new iteration of its Goalie Masks Made on iPad campaign, this time teaming up with notable NHL goaltender Sam Montembeault to give young goalies the masks of their dreams.

The masks were uniquely designed with iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro by NHL mask artists just in time for Canada’s premier youth hockey event, the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament.

In hockey, custom goalie masks are a rite of passage traditionally reserved for professionals. The personalised designs aren’t just protective equipment, they’re a way for goalies to unleash their inner fierceness, build confidence, and step into their alter egos on the ice. Through this campaign, Apple continues to demonstrate how iPad and Apple Pencil serve as powerful creative tools for both professionals and the next generation.

The new iteration of the campaign arrives as Apple introduces the all-new iPad Air featuring M4, offering a big leap in performance at the same starting price and incredible versatility to help users turn their ideas into reality.

The bespoke film follows young goalies through the creative process, capturing their inspiration for their mask design, as celebrated NHL mask artists bring their ideas to life from initial sketches to finished mask.

  • Jordon Borgeault, known for designs for Montreal Canadiens goalie Sam Montembeault and Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz.
  • Travis Michael, who has designed masks for Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko and Calgary Flames goalie Dustin Wolf.
  • Dave Fried, whose work includes designs for Vegas Golden Knights goalie Adin Hill and Washington Capitals goalie Logan Thompson.

The mask design is deeply personal to each young goalie. One features an aviation theme and a tribute to a late grandfather who helped build the first indoor rink in his hometown. Another depicts a lioness, inspired by how she guards her cubs. In the film, Sam Montembeault surprises a young goalie with her newly designed mask.

The film is live now across digital and social platforms. Young fans can also create their own mask designs in Freeform with a free Everyone Can Create Made on iPad activity inspired by the campaign.
