They were jamming at the V&A for the 10th APA Collection, which included this Audi spot from Rogue Films and BBH.

The tenth annual naming of the APA Collection was announced in London last night at an event that Steve Davies, Chief Executive of the Advertising Producers Association, calls the highlight of the London ad calendar.  This year's edition of the APA Collection is a list of the work judged to be the best from the UK production community, and a total of 33 spots found their way into the limelight.

As is its tradition, the APA show bestows no medals on its honorees, and proclaims none 'best of show.'  There are no categories, no different levels of merit and no runners up.  You're either on the list or you're not.  For a full list of APA Collection winners, click here.

In terms of ranking who did what, there were some clear winners.  Partizan's London was the single most-honored production company, placing four spots on the list.  This included work for the Australian Tourism Board ("Summertimes"), John Lewis ("A Tribute to Givers"), Orange ("The Reason to Love") and Virgin Atlantic ("It").

Academy, Rattling Stick and Stink all placed three spots on the 2011 list.  Academy was honored for work for Cadbury ("Spots v Stripes/Fish"), Ikea ("Kitchens") and VW Polo ("Last Tango in Compton"). Rattling Stick was honored for John Smith's ("Dog Show"), Thinkbox ("Dog's Home") and Walls ("Kitchen"). Stink was honored for Ikea ("Cats"), Lurpak ("Kitchen Odyssey") and TalkTalk ("Homes within Homes").

A number of production houses were represented by two spots; this list included Gorgeous, Nexus Productions, Rogue Films and Smith & Jones. Single-spot honorees included 2 AM, Aardman Animation, HLA, Hungry Man, Independent, Mad Cow Films, MJZ, Riff Raff, Smuggler, Somesuch & Co. and Sonny London.

The mood at the event was upbeat, says Davies.  "We're in a time of uncertainty, which it seems we always are, but even within that realm the outlook is very positive," Davies told SourceEcreative.  "Of course, that could have just been the drink."

On hand for the festivities were James Straker, SourceEcreative's London-based Managing Director, and Pamela Maythenyi, Founder of SourceEcreative and Sr. Vice President of parent company DG.  Photos from the revelry appear below.
