A new campaign has launched from Anomaly and global game developer SQUARE ENIX.

Designed to generate excitement and buzz ahead of the launch of FINAL FANTASY XVI, the campaign, entitled Fate Will Fall, includes live actors and a moving score to create an immersive experience for fans. A 3:30 film titled Requiem, serves as the creative centerpiece, bringing to life the story that drives the latest iteration of the critically acclaimed franchise. Renowned composer Masayoshi Soken scored this film along with the accompanying 30- and 60-second spots, imbuing them with a cinematic quality.

The longform film debuted at FINAL FANTASY XVI’s Pre-Launch Celebration event orchestrated by the brand at Los Angeles Center Studios. Developer panels occurred throughout the afternoon, culminating in a discussion between game composer Masayoshi Soken and film director Diego Contretras around their collaboration and revealing the film for the first time.

“Having grown up playing FINAL FANTASY and experiencing first-hand the passion and love that the community has for the franchise, it was important for me to find an agency that would not only delight existing fans, but also creatively introduce FINAL FANTASY XVI to a new generation of fans” said Morten Haugaard, Executive Director Publishing Strategy for Creative Business Unit III at Square Enix.

“It’s not often you’re able to launch a chapter of a franchise as iconic as FINAL FANTASY. This film was a true labor of love - from every costume to special effect to chord of music. And after working so closely to Clive Rosfield all of these months, we’re ready to play as him, just like the rest of the massive fanbase” said Jeremy Wirth, Group Creative Director at Anomaly LA.
